part 290:

“Bismillahir rahmaanir raheem”
-in the name of Allah, The Most Gracious, The Most Merciful-

Once we landed, we just followed the signs through passport control, collected our luggage and came through customs…

We were quite exhausted from the flight..

There were quite a few people on our flight that were held back… But shukr we were allowed through… Ismail says that they were doing screening on those passengers who’d travelled through liberia and sierra leone and guinea recently as the british government was now concerned about anyone in the country contracting the ebola virus which has recently killed an approximate of 4000 people in its short span of being around…

As tired as we were, I insisted on making the most of this trip and so we decided to check out all the shops and restaurants at the arrival terminals …

There was a place called ‘boots’ which sold all kinds of beauty essentials… They even sold sunscreen and I found myself wondering why anyone would need sunscreen in london, because from what I’ve heard, there’s usually very little or no sun at all in london…

Then there were a few restaurants but obviously we were not going to go there…. I’m sure none were halaal and anyway, all the padkos salma and I prepared lasted us all the way through and we still had left overs..

That’s Indians for you, never short of travel food anywhere… And trust me, we don’t care if everyone gets the whiff of our freshly prepared home food with all its ginger garlic masala…

From samoosas to french toast(beda bread as we commonly know it), to cocktail pies, chicken strips, roast and puri…. The list was endless.. Not forgetting a whole range of different kebaabs….

So basically we were still quite stuffed and I’m sure once we reached maryam and imraan, they’d have a 10 course meal spread out for us…

They offered to collect us from the airport and take us straight to their house where we would all have brunch and then go to the hotel to check in and rest for the rest of the day…

The kids were the first to spot their dada and abdurahman papa and soon we were on our way to their home…..

I use the word ‘home’ because that’s what warmth emanated from it.. It wasn’t simply a house… It was cosy and we were hosted so well… It almost felt like home..

I taught the kids the dua when ‘entertained and fed by a host’ but we were seldom ever guests at anyones house. Atleast today they could recite:

اللَّهُمَّ بَارِكْ لَهُمْ فِيمَا رَزَقْتَهُمْ ، وَاغْفِرْ لَهُمْ وَارْحَمْهُمْ

“Allahumma baarik lahum fi maa razaqtahum waghfir lahum war hamhum….”
-oH Allah! bless for them, that which You have provided them, forgive them and have mercy upon them.

Maryam and her family were truly good hearted and sincere people.. They fussed over our every move and made sure we tried everything that was spread out for us..

We were really exhausted and stuffed to capacity and once we reached the hotel, check in took abit of a while… Nevertheless, once we opened the door to the hotel room, it was all worth the wait… All I can say is that ismail really did go out of his way to make this holiday a pleasant one… Let’s just hope that the rest of it turns out just as smooth……

I honestly felt like I was dreaming… All of this felt so unreal… Looking back at mine and ismails past, a few many prior to this, I never would have ever imagined sitting in a hotel in london with all 3 of my kids and my husband and actually being happy…

Deep down I made a dua for every woman who was going through some kind of difficulty in her marriage.. Whether it was an abusive husband, or one who’s on drugs or other kind of intoxicants… Or whether he’s a cheating husband or whether they’re having problems with inlaws… I prayed sincerely from the bottom of my heart for every marriage and every marital home to change for the better, for their problems to be solved and for them to oneday find the happiness that I was experiencing right now..

It may take years or months, but truly with sacrifice and dua… Anything is possible… If ismail could change so much, then ANYONE can….

Maybe he still has his faults here and there… But don’t we all?

Its when we as women start to overlook those little faults and start to love the good and find the good in our husbands that the change may just take place…

I have hope for everyone… And I will never stop making dua for those who have a life just like my past or worst… Because I know what it feels like to be there and I wouldn’t wish it upon my worst enemy…

And now the fun begins !!!!
Its soo good of Fay to think of others in that situation n make dua for them …. Cos only those that hav been there know what they experienced !!!
    Maaf – Mrs S … Just a slight typo …
Ur dua and transliteration went like this …

“Allahumma baarik lahum fi maa razaqtahum waghfir lahum war zuqhum….”

But the dua has ‘war hamhum’ @ the end and the transliteration has ‘war zuqhum’ …
Just need to adjust it …

Looking forward to more UK posts !!

For the lovely post, truly enjoyed it
Indians and their padkos is well known n we carry enough food to feed an entire army as if we not going to get food until we return
Aameen to all the Duaa Faaiza made bcoz it is only ALLAAH who can change hearts and bring about unity and love in a family
Another beautiful Duaa taught to us by our beloved Sheikh for the host is
May the righteous partake of your food, may the angels of mercy pray for u and may the fasting break their fast by u. Also
Oh ALLAH feed him/her who has fed me and quench the thirst of him/her who has quenched my thirst
May we all put it into practice آمين
    Enjoying the blog
