part 131:

And finally..Post 5 of 5 for today…

Fay:”ahem…..this is my cue to leave”

She smiled that naughty smile, turned to me, hugged me and was gone…not forgetting..she closed the door behind her and was gone…

I was hyperventilating in my own room…this is the first time in my life I was alone in a room with a guy…okay he’s no guy anymore…

It felt wrong but right at the same time.I was so shy and had no idea what to do….

Aqeel came closer to me…he took my right hand in his, you could see he was just as nervous as I was..ya I know..aqeel and nervous don’t go together..so you can imagine how much more nervous this made me…he held up my hand with both his hands to his mouth and gently kissed it…

Aqeel:”assalamu alaykum my bride….(Pause and looking into my eyes)…you look like a hoor today…..”

I was taken aback by this mans words…not gorgeous…not stunning..not beautiful beyond words..but a hoor?wow….no better way to make me feel so special….

I bit onto my bottom lip..I couldn’t speak again…it was worse than the night he came to propose..like someone had stolen by tongue and vocal cords and ran away..

He came closer and I could actually hear my heart beating faster as he took me into his embrace…he held me and I suddenly felt so safe in this total strangers arms…it eased the situation and I slowly put my hand on his back and the other on his shoulder and hugged him back…

We stood like this for who knows how long..it was as if though the entire world had vanished and nothing and no-one mattered to me in this instance besides this man that stood before me..

I always wondered what it would feel like to be held by a man….it always disgusted me to see unmarried couples touching and holding..to me that was a territory I would never enter….and today I’m glad I didn’t..I’m able to appreciate a simple hug and simple words of charm and know that it was told and done to me sincerely..

Aqeel:(whispering)”I love you my wife…..I promise to show you what true love is the halaal way….and I promise to always be by your side..to never let a tear fall from your eyes(he moved a strand of hair from my face)…..I’m the happiest man alive today….to finally be married to an angel like you….(Placing a small kiss on my forehead)…the mahar(dowry) I have given you is nothing in comparison to your value…but we have our entire lives together where I promise to cherish every moment and give you all that your heart desires inshallah…”

Aqeel was referring to the kruger coin he had given me as my dowry which is worth approximately R14 000 aswe as a pure gold set of jewellery which consisted of earings, a necklace, a bracelett and 2 bangles..

This was what was stipulated this morning in the nikaah book when daddy brought it for me to sign..along with my mamajee(mothers brother) as a witness…

And here Aqeel is telling me that my value is more than that?I still haven’t uttered a word to him..I honestly don’t know what to say..fay said it will come naturally..am I normal to be feeling like this?I feel dumb..not being able to say something

Luckily I was saved by a knock on the bedroom door…

I instinctively dropped by hands to my side..

Me:”come in…”

It was daddy….he entered the room with a broad smile on his face…

Daddy:”sorry to disturb the 2 of you…”

I looked down shyly…

Aqeel:”no problem unc….err..daddy”

Aww that’s so sweet…he’s not even married for a couple of hours and already has the decency of calling my dad daddy…

Daddy:”just a little sunnah I’d like to fulfill..if you guys will have a allow me to?(Gesturing for us to sit down)..”

Aqeel and I sat on my bed next to eachother and daddy put his hand in a bowl of water and sprinkled some water lightly over us…thereafter he recited the following dua:
بارك الله لك وبارك الله عليك وجمع بينكما في خير

“May Allah bless you and may His blessings be upon you and may he unite you two with goodness”

“Baarakallaahu lak wa baaraka alayk wa jama’a baynakuma fee khair”

He finally handed me a little silver gift bag which was had a dainty bracelet inside for me and a gorgeous watch for aqeel…the card inside read…
“to my 2 wonderful children..
may Allah always be with you throughout you marriage..
Love daddy!”

ما شاءالله so pure n beautiful. May الله keep their love as sweet as their first meeting forever. It’s so good to see them trying to fulfil every sunnah in this marriage.

  5. MashaAllah, I really like how you wrote this, it highlights that as Muslims we don’t need to do haraam things to get love and marriage, there is just so much more barakah in doing things the halaal way, and this comes out in your posts very nicely. It also emphasizes how pure and innocent everything is when we follow the rules of Islam. Nicely done, may Allah reward you and accept your efforts and use your words as a lesson for us all.

There is soo much barakah in following the sunnah n tareeqah of our beloved nabi(S.A.W.) Aqueel her came as her night in shinning amamah n carried her away to a land were they will enjoy each others company in a halaal n tayyib way. May allah take u from strength to strength dear author n fulfill all your jaaiz tamannas. Jazakallah soo much for inspiring us with ur beautiful writing.

    • Not always….yes most cases…because we went wrong in some ways…it doesn’t last..like in fays case…it didn’t last…she went through hell and back…and so do many women unfortunately who marry immature little boys instead of men with piety…piety is not what we wear…or what ‘beliefs’ we follow…piety is fearing Allah in the way we deal with our women…
Men like that…can keep to their promises….I personally have seen that in my brothers nikaah..he and his wife met once…seen, spoke….and only ever spoke again after they made nikaah a while after…and alhamdulillah he treats my sister in law like a queen and so does she…I’ve never seen a woman with sabr and nerves like my sister in law..but what I’ve learnt from them is that nikaahs like these do exist….alhamdulillah they’re married for over 10 years happily…

But unfortunately many don’t keep to that and everything changes afterwards..may Allah make it easy for all of us

  10. Dayum Aqeel is one sweet guy 🙂 I want a husband like him lol :p this post was so heart touching and this post has made me also want to make sure I get married the halal way and not destroy my marriage by doing haram because if the roots of the marriage are built with haraam and thers no blessing in that marriage 🙂

I’ve also noticed that des plenty of barkat the halal way – I nvr knew my husband b4 marriage , saw him once n nvr spoke b4 the wedding and ‎الحمد لله we r happily married for over 12 yrs *shew*
But I no some girls – they were goin out wid the guy , got married – had endless problems n divorced …….. ‘love marriages’ – Shaytaan makes u overlook things … N starts needling the person after so he can cause problems .

After marriage ‎اللَّهُ puts love between the spouses – pure and unconditional love …..
No doubt , not ALL these marriages last – but more than the so called ‘ love marriages’ ………..

May ‎اللَّهُ grant us all plenty of muhabbat in our marriages and make us Queen ‘hoors’ for our husbands in this world and the Aakhira – ‎آمين

Alhamdulillah!reminds so much of my own nikah.my beloved mother also performed that sunnah of sprinkling the water,it is a forgotten sunnah. Sometimes I think its because of the barkah of that sunnah we have reached 16 years of marridge alhamduliilah.
Its simple follow the sunnah if u want barakah in your nikah.also a very important point any communication before marriage is haraam, even if it was only SMS or BBm etc ,u hve to make taubah .because that looms like a dark cloud over the marriage causing bickering ,arguments etc (bascially no peace)until αи∂ unless both the husband n wife make taubah for commitin zina before marriage.
