part 113

Special edition post….specially dedicated to the 2 tarts sister/in/islam and sister A…

AT THE MAYYIT(part 1):
Salma and I decided to cook a pot of food and fry some savouries as I’m sure they’ll be getting a lot of people coming to offer their condolences to aunty saabira and the family…

I thought about making a pot of kheer(almond milk) aswel, but I’m sure that should be sorted out already…indians already plan who’s going to cook and what the menus going to be like long before the body’s even cold…

Salma chose to drive among with us as her dads car was already quite full..shame her family was quite caring..everyone wanted to be there for the mayyit…

The mayyit was confirmed for immediately after maghrib at first but due to some unforeseen circumstances was yet delayed to after esha….

Atleast now we would make it in time..I left the kids with dadi as it would get very late and the next day was still school…and driving all the way to rustenburg with the kids wouldn’t be such a good idea anyway..

Shukr with ismails gps, we managed to find the house with no trouble at all…but allahu akbar…..the house was already packed with tons of people..we couldn’t even find a place to park…ismail suggested that he could drop us at the entrance of the house and then he’ll look for parking…but once he got to the front, he changed his mind….

There was a large congregation of men all crowded at the door…ismail being his possessive self would never allow us to go in alone…

I hated this…why was it that at indian mayyits, there were always so much of men gathered in the front?how did they expect women to pass by and enter?it was most disturbing to me…couldn’t they find a better place in the corner of the garden to sit and make unnecessary chit-chat?I mean, its not like the garden or house was so small that there was no other place to be but the entrance….

After driving up and down the road a couple of times, ismail finally found a spot round the corner to park..well that was the closest we could get…so it would be either take it.or leave it…

Ismail walked us to the entrance..he was feeling abit out of place at first..who would he have to talk to?he knew practically no-one here…but as soon as we were about to enter the house, he spotted someone that he claimed to know from ‘old days’….some guy he apparently used to play soccer with a couple of times from rustenburg…

Atleast that was abit of a relief for me…I wouldn’t have to sit and stress whether ismail was okay or not…

Salmas father drives terribly slow..so chance are that they’ve got still another half an hour before reaching..lol

Salma was also feeling abit awkward..I mean here she was the supposed to be ‘bride’ …

Me:”dont stress sal…(Whispering)..no-one even know who you are..or that you’re supposed to be the….you know what..”

Salma let out a small giggle…”Yeah…..”

And before she could finish her sentence, aunty saabira spotted her……

So true about our muslim funerals, I too found myself in the awkward position of walking through a whole lot of men gathered at the entrance. And not jus at funerals, but other functions as well.

  9. So sad… He passed away. We never know when our mauth will come to us, and we have no idea how either. Sometimes it may appear that we have had a good death, but truly Allah Ta’ala knows best. May we all have those conditions to be Shaheeds. Insha Allah.

At least funerals are forcibly separate.. Other functions and the mixing… Imagine if death has to come to us there? Allah save us.

JazakAllah for bringing this funeral topic to light, sister. Your talents are truly increasing! Alhumdulillah!

    • Very true..I love the different way that you look at each post mashallah..that’s why its so important to get feedback…you cover a totally different aspect from each persons different view…jx so much

      • Sometimes I analyse too much though.
We’re so guilty of acting like we know everybody’s status. I heard once that there may be people who have gone through life completely unnoticed, and when they die, people barely remember them, but not an angel in the Heaven does not know that person’s profile. Likewise, someone may seem Allah-fearing, but who really knows?
Uwais Al-Qarni Rahmatullah Alaih was completely unknown until Umar (RA) exposed his status. And what a status that was.
JazakAllah for all your efforts, sister. Maaf for the slong comment. I too am so guilty of commenting on people and their supposed ‘piety’.

      • Yes that’s so very true…mashallah I love engaging in conversation with you because you always bring up things hat are of importance and I need to be reminded of….jx my dear sister..may you have a spiritual uplifting jumu*ah inshallah…
